Classes at New Village meet the core academic content standards of the California State Board of Education and include courses and hours that meet the University of California admission requirements.

 In addition, New Village programs include the following:

  • A hands-on science program taught in a fully-equipped science lab.
  • Individualized pacing for students with different abilities.
  • A math program that offers both high-level college preparation courses and basic skills development to prepare for the California high school exit exam.
  • A Computer training center which allows students to develop proficiency in math and related subjects and job skills for the workplace.
  • A comprehensive English language program that includes literature, writing and drama.
  • English as a second language for students working on English learning.
  • WRITEGIRL, a creative writing program in which girls write from their own experiences under the guidance of professional writers.
  • A rich variety of creative opportunities in the fine arts.
  • Opportunities for independent study, work-study and internships.
  • A list of high interest electives.
